Type locality
India, based solely on Tawny Monkey, a menagerie animal (presumably observed in London), not preserved, identified by Pennant in 1771. Restricted by R. Pocock in 1932 to "Nepal Tarai" (= Terai), the narrow plain that extends along the southern border of Nepal.
