the specific epithet was originally spelt 'vetula' and is a noun in apposition, thus, the name shouldn't change to match the generic gender; however, the spelling 'vetulus' has been used for most of the taxonomic history of this species (with almost no publications using 'vetula') and is considered in prevailing use as a justified emendation here
