Taxonomy notes
includes phaleratus, bor, and decula, which were included as distinct species by Groves & Grubb 2011; previously included T. sylvaticus, although a recent study suggested returning the two to a single species, the nuclear divergence between the two species is equivalent to that of other species in the genus, suggesting that the two should be recognized as distinct; for additional information regarding the MDD's decision to not follow the Groves & Grubb 2011 Ungulate Taxonomy, see 'Subjective decisions' on the 'About' tab
