recently moved from Saguinus to Oedipomidas, however, some recent publications have suggested retaining all species traditionally contained in Saguinus under distinct subgenera (Saguinus, Leontocebus, Tamarinus, and Oedipomidas) rather than genera, which is tentatively followed here pending further discussion
