Taxonomy notes
moved from Allactaga to Scarturus; S. elator is certainly a species complex with at least three species (S. elator, S. turkmeni or S. heptneri, and S. indica or S. aralychensis, which would include S. toussi); this arrangement is tentatively not followed here, as the names that apply to each of these taxa are not certain as of now
