Type locality

"Brésil." Restricted by A. Cabrera in 1958 to Pará in northern Brazil and further restricted by J. H. Honacki and colleagues in 1982 to Belém, Pará, Brazil.

moved to Dermanura from Artibeus, although some recent publications do not agree with this split, there seems to be more publications using this revised taxonomy rather than leaving all species under Artibeus
