moved from Mazama to Passalites; previously included under Subulo gouazoubira and previously included Bisbalus citus; includes murelia, permira, rondoni, sanctamartae, tschudii, which were listed as distinct by Groves & Grubb 2011; the recently described name tienhoveni may be a synonym of thiss species, although it may just as likely be a synonym of M. gouazoubira or M. americana; for additional information regarding the MDD's decision to not follow the Groves & Grubb 2011 Ungulate Taxonomy, see 'Subjective decisions' on the 'About' tab
